Italy > Calabria versione in italiano

Calabria is a region in the Southern Italy and it is the "toe" of the Italian "booth". As the main part of the Italian regions, Calabria is mountanious and hilly and only the 9% of its area must be considered plain.

Calabria, even being a narrow peninsula, with 741 kilometers of coastline, has a very variegated territory with cliffs falling into the sea alternating with little creeks and long sandy beaches, sweet climbing hills and the steep slopes of the ranges of Aspromonte(1955 mt.), Pollino (at the border with Basilicata) and Sila (1928 mt.).

Calabria's history is ancient and the several dominations that have been succeeded during the past 2500 years, from Greeks to Spanish, are witnessed by noumerous archeological sites, churches, castels and monuments.
